Contratiempos en America Central

To go with my travels around Mexico and Guatemala for the first four months of 2007, I set up this Wordpress blog to document James and I travelling around, the culture, and the things we got up to while we volunteered.

The blog was a simple Wordpress install, and the theme is Day Dream by Jim Whimpey, but it was edited at the last minute to suit our purposes.

We usually managed to get posts on the blog every few days or so, and sometimes I managed to get longer in an Internet Cafe to play around with things, such as updating the very static map up the top with Microsoft Paint, and writing a random javascript module to randomly pull images from my php gallery (the gallery was a standalone thing, not self-written).

Keeping the blog was good fun, and saved having to send email updates to everyone. Unfortunately, it was quite an ego boost leading to posts about us cooking and the very ego-massaging last post – but for keeping memories of the trip easily, its great.

There’s a screenshot below. Unfortunately the blog has been taken off my server, but if you want to read the blog posts, please look at my php blog project.
