As ThinkCamera had an interlinked product system – a product could be linked to news items, forum posts, shops and gallery photos and vice versa – category and group images were required as well. To give an overall design feel to the system, these images were required to go as headers to the sections, and they would need to look similar. Photos of a product from that group could have been used, but I decided to draw the products instead.
A standard drawn style would save the need to choose a suitable product from each category and would ensure the look of all the images would be nice and similar. The images were drawn in Photoshop, sometimes by tracing to initially give the shape, and then coloured in, and the creation took about a month, off and on. Over two years on, the category images are still in use on the site.
