The last project worked on while at university, was a concept portfolio design in the form of a phone. More of a User Interface experiment than a personal portfolio it was never finished, but was completed enough to show off.
The idea behind the website was ridiculously simple. Everyone has a mobile phone, so why not create a website that mimics just that – having to switch it on and use the keys to navigate around the menu. Unfortunately, I was thinking too complex for something like this as the idea of having to switch it on confused people (although people liked the idea even though they couldn’t use it). A user manual to go with it never got finished.
For me, it was a challenge in Flash. It brought content into Flash externally for ease of updating, so there is a myriad of text files sitting behind it. I also wanted to bring in some form of customisation, hence the ability to change cover. This sadly doesn’t work in the finished item below, but it randomly chooses one on pageload. Using the keypad wasn’t finished either.
